Pushing bold candidates through the political process
Jen Migliore grew up in Saugus, attended Saugus Public Schools and was an active member of the community as a softball player and cheerleader. Her father was a member of the Plumber’s Union Local 12 and teaches at a vocational high school, while her mother is a certified nursing assistant. Jen played softball at Wellesley University and graduated Cum Laude. She had experience working for passionate government officials at various levels, including Congressman Seth Moulton.
Jen announced her plans to run for the 9th Essex State Representative with the encouragement and support of the Blue Lab. Being only 23, she faced a myriad of challenges as a recent graduate and first-time female candidate running in a traditionally Republican district against a likeable and well-known incumbent, Donald Wong.
The Blue Lab embraced Jen’s hard-working personality and began organizing her campaign’s infrastructure through fundraising developing her overall campaign strategy. Jen would knock on as many doors as she possibly could over year ahead.
The Blue Lab also provided Jen with the tools to start her own campaign staff with her existing district connections, allowing her to become independent but still acting as the backbone of the campaign. Associates designed graphics, provided staff and support for canvassing and fundraising events, wrote press releases, conducted debate preparation and consulted for mailers and the overall messaging of the campaign.
Jen won the Democratic primary handedly, winning over 70% of the vote, before falling to Donald Wong in November by a margin of 55-45%. This was a landmark showing in a historically Red district that voted for Donald Trump in the presidential election.
